New Year, New Goals, Hopes and Dreams

As ever with a brand new year we look to putting our aspirations and goals down on paper. We dare to dream our dreams of achieving much success.

This year will not be the same as the last for me. I have promised myself that not only will I put down my goals and aspirations, but also have the actions to follow them through. These are the most important element which is partially forgotten by many when goal setting. If you do not also plan the action, then the goal will not be achieved.

Life has a way of getting in the way. Therefore, goals have to be planned, but need to be flexible to cater for anything that life throws at us in betwix our aiming for and working towards our goals.

Step 1 – Make your goals short and simple and achievable. Start our in small tiny baby steps, if your goals is to lose weight, then write down how much weight you will lose by x day. In order to achieve this, you will need to lot out what it is you need to do in order to achieve this goal before the deadline day.

Step 2 – write down your goals. It may seem obvious but writing down your goals actually helps to keep them in your mind. They say that visualising a goal helps you to achieive it much quicker if you are able to see where you want to be. It helps you to focus on your goal and in doing so, eventually achieving it.

Step 3 – chart your progress, if your goal takes some time for you to work towards, then plan how long it will take you and chart your progress. It is important to chart your progress. If you don’t know how far away you are, you wont know when you will reach it….

Step 4 – visualise your goal. By visualising your goal, you make your dreams a reality. If you can see yourself reaching your goal, if you can taste, or feel it in yourself that you have already reached your goal, it will bring it closer within your reach.

Ensure that your goals encompass all areas of your life, such as your health, well being, spiritual, financial, relationships, work and play.

Did you know you can re-negotiate your credit card interest rate with your card provider. Just give them a call and ask for a rate review. Card companies do sometimes put your interest rates up over the year, and it is up to you to watch how much interest you are being charged, and either move your balance to a card with a lower interest rate, or try and negotiate a lower interest rate to be more competitive to other card lenders.
